Granddaddy of the 60’s muscle cars, this rare 1964 Oldsmobile Jetstar 88 convertible rises early in the line-up of high-performance cars. The Jetstar 88 was produced for only three years from 64 – 66, and the convertible was offered in 64 and 65 only. While the Jetstar had a slightly smaller engine than other 88 models offered at the time, it still pulled its weight hitting 60 in under 10 seconds. The Jetstar 88 offered here has the 330 ci (5.4L) Jetfire ultra high-performance V-8 engine in perfect original condition. There have been no modifications and the original block is still painted in the signature gold topped with the red Jetfire air-cleaner. Purchased in 1999 by the current owner, this car has been carefully stored and properly maintained to retain its quality and originality. The white exterior, red vinyl interior, and black canvass top are all original and in superior condition. You will find a few small nicks and scratches in the exterior paint while the interior is nearly flawless. All chrome and trim are very nice. We know of none missing or damaged. The carpet has been replaced. There is no rust on this car beyond the expected minor surface rust on the undercarriage and manifold. All windows operate and are clean and free or cracks or noticeable scratches, including the plastic rear window. The 330ci engine is 100% original and in excellent running condition. Even the window washer fluid bottle remains with the label attached. Hoses, belts, plug wires, and plugs have, of course, been replaced. This engine runs cool and does not smoke or leak any fluids. This is the perfect collector car and for the person who wants to get this powerhouse out on the open road. We don’t want to give up air bags and anti-lock disc brakes, but who says we have to give up the pleasure of the wind over 2 tons of steel and chrome. White-wall bias-ply tires are new with original spoke knock-off wheels. We believe the spare is the original bias-ply Firestone tire that came with the car. The top operates smoothly, folding back without complaint. Original boot is in excellent condition. No snaps are rusted or missing on the car or boot. The only thing that does not operate is the original AM/FM radio. This has not been diagnosed. This Jetstar 88 is perfectly straight, with no known accidents and no body work.
